On Monday, Georgia football made the official announcement that Josh Crawford, the running backs coach, and James Coley, the wide receivers coach, had been hired to replace Dell McGee and Bryan McClendon of the Georgia State Bulls and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, respectively.

Coley was Georgia’s prior coach under Kirby Smart from 2016 to 2019.The Bulldogs participated in the 2017 SEC championship game and the national championship game when he was at UGA. Coley increases recruiting success in Georgia and provides experience to the coaching staff. His connections to Florida are also a benefit to Smart and the team.

After spending four seasons at Texas A&M, Coley recently got a job in South Carolina. 2020 saw the Aggies go 8-1 under Coley’s direction as offensive coordinator. In 2023, he was reduced to the position of tight ends coach and co-offensive coordinator.

Coley was Miami’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before coming to Texas A&M. Under his leadership, the team ranked highly in explosive plays. In addition, Coley was a Florida State coach from 2009 to 2012. The Florida State alumnus served as an offensive assistant for the Miami Dolphins and a graduate assistant coach at LSU prior to his time with the Seminoles.
