Niederreiter has participated in all 23 Jets games this season, recording 14 points (eight goals and eight assists). In the NHL Trade of the previous season, the Jets acquired him from the Nashville Predators.

Talk circulated that he might decide not to continue after this season. But it was much easier for him to make the choice when Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele demonstrated their dedication to the company.

Niederreiter through Illegal Curve’s Dave Minuk: Yes, without a doubt. It was evident to the city and the team, in my opinion, that they wanted to be contenders rather than go for a run here, and as a player, that’s where you want to be. And it goes without saying that after they signed, I did everything in my power to play our finest conversation, or else there would have been no contract, and you are now quite content.

Niederreiter is also happy to be a part of a team that works hard and is fiercely competitive, with everyone expecting a lot of one another.

The New York Islanders selected Nino Niederreiter fifth overall in the opening round of the 2010 NHL Draft. He was traded to the Minnesota Wild because he was unable to settle in there. Before joining the Carolina Hurricanes, Predators, and Jets, he enjoyed some success there.

He had 423 points (211 goals and 212 assists) in 833 games. Furthermore, he has participated in 87 postseason games, scoring 34 points (16 goals and 18 helpers).
