A foreign team was attempting to entice the former Super League player turned coach to leave Red Hill after he said two weeks ago that he hopes to become an NRL head coach.

But according to League Express, Briers turned down the chance to become the head coach of Hull FC, a Super League team.

Rather, he will continue to coach attacking for the Brisbane Broncos, a position he will hold through the end of the 2025 campaign.

“As a coach, there aren’t many jobs available, but my goal is to be a head coach in the NRL or Super League,” Briers previously stated on the BBC 5 Live podcast.

“I can only continue gaining experience and holding out for that job to come along. I could work as an assistant for the rest of my life; I’m not in a rush.

But whether it’s now or in a few years, I’m prepared to be a head coach. I adore my job at the Broncos and am picking up management skills.

Prior to starting his coaching career, Briers participated in 432 Super League games between 1997 and 2013, 425 of which were with the Warrington Wolves.
