CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) – The family of Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley received some amazing news over the weekend.
Fraley’s 5-year-old daughter, Avery, is in remission, according to her mother Angelica Fraley, who posted the news on Instagram.
Avery was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia during the Reds’ 2023 playoff race.
Angelica Fraley wrote on Instagram that Avery’s latest bone marrow scan did not detect any leukemia.
“We still have a few months of frontline chemo and continue to ask y’all pray she gets through that’s quick and easy,” Angelica Fraley said.
About Avery’s diagnosis, the Fraley family was interviewed by WXIX in early January.
Jake Fraley said that they were shocked to learn that their 5-year-old daughter had cancer.
“It was really challenging,” he remarked. You simply cannot imagine it. While each person experiences extreme darkness in a different way, everyone experiences extreme darkness.
When the Fraley family revealed Avery’s cancer diagnosis on Instagram, they did so with one key message and one word in mind.
That word was “purpose,” and the family used it as their main focus while supporting Avery in her fight against cancer.
