Having selected Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions seem to have struck gold. Gibbs exceeded 1,000 scrimmage yards in his NFL debut and showed an abundance of athleticism and quickness. As he enters his second season, the Lions are eager to see what a more mature version of the gifted running back can accomplish.

The Detroit Free Press was informed by Lions fullback Jason Cabinda that “Jah” (Gibbs) is a unique guy. He is capable of a great deal, as seen by his acceleration, speed, and vision. He truly is capable of anything. And does it not scream Detroit the way “D-Mo” (David Montgomery) handles the show—I mean, the friggin attitude? Those are just two dynamic guys that have the potential to really damage you, and that’s how I feel when I see D-Mo run the rock. It can be dynamic when you include me again and we are able to perform various actions in the Power Run game.

Cabinda is in an intriguing situation himself. He was activated from injured reserve but was waived after missing the majority of the previous season due to a knee ailment. Though his contract expired early in the summer, he ended up rejoining the practice squad and playing an elevated role during the playoffs. He expressed his desire to make a comeback in 2024, but his main priority is recovering from his injuries and returning to full health.

“At the moment, I think I’m just concentrating on my body and trying to get it where I want it to be,” Cabinda remarked. We’ll see. I want to give myself the best opportunity to begin getting ready again. Take a few weeks to relax, work on this knee, let it to recover a little, and then assess my condition.
