Australia’s Sydney is the birthplace of Reynolds, who went to Matraville Sports High School. His all-time favorite South Sydney player is Nathan Merritt, although his favorite players as a child were Andrew Johns, Matthew Johns, and Darren Lockyer.
He continued by saying that when asked “who is the most inspirational player or person on your career and how have they positively affected your football?” , he replied “My brother – he’s always on my back telling me to do extras and pushing me to be the best I can be” . Reynolds was a member of the Matraville Sports High School team that defeated Patrician Brothers’ College Blacktown 32–10 to win the NRL Schoolboy Cup in 2007.
In the South Sydney Juniors division, Reynolds played junior rugby league with Kensington United, La Perouse Panthers, Alexandria Rovers, and St Peters JRLFC. In 2007, he was a member of the New South Wales under-17 team.
After graduating to the Rabbitohs’ Under-20 squad in 2009, Reynolds was a key member of the South Sydney team that advanced to the Grand Final during the 2010 Toyota Cup season. During his U20s career, Reynolds participated in 46 games, scored 21 tries, and kicked 159 goals for 402 points.
