INTERVIEW: “I am Optimistic About Being the Winner of Las Vegas GP Tomorrow” – Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen has been in exceptional form this season, with a string of dominant performances that have secured him yet another Formula 1 World Championship. As the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix draws near, Verstappen shares his thoughts on the unique challenges of the new circuit, his mindset going into the race, and his expectations for the event.
Q: Max, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is a new addition to the Formula 1 calendar. How do you feel about racing on this brand-new street circuit?
Max Verstappen:
I’m excited, honestly. It’s always thrilling to race at a new venue, and Las Vegas is certainly a unique location. The city itself, with its atmosphere and the incredible backdrop of the strip, adds an exciting element to the event. The circuit has a mix of tight corners and high-speed straights, which will definitely challenge us. I’ve been enjoying the learning process and working with the team to find the best setup for the car. We’ve done our homework, so I feel prepared. There’s always an unknown element with a new track, but I’m confident that we can adapt quickly.
Q: How do you approach a new track like this compared to established ones?
Max Verstappen:
The approach doesn’t really change. It’s about understanding the circuit, learning the braking points, how the car reacts to different corners, and fine-tuning the setup. We always go through simulations and data analysis before the weekend, but until you’re actually driving on the track, you don’t get the full picture. In a way, it’s exciting because every lap brings something new, and you have to be precise. It’s a challenge, but that’s what we live for as drivers.
Q: You’ve been on a dominant run this season. How do you maintain this level of performance as you approach another race win?
Max Verstappen:
It’s about staying focused and consistent. Every race is a fresh challenge, and while the success of the season is great, it’s important not to take anything for granted. I always focus on the details, working closely with the team, and ensuring that we’re constantly improving. I’m optimistic about tomorrow’s race. The car is in a good place, and we’re confident in our preparation. Of course, anything can happen, but I’m going into the weekend with a positive mindset.
Q: Finally, any predictions for tomorrow’s race?
Max Verstappen:
I don’t like to make predictions too early, but I’m optimistic. We’ve been strong all season, and I feel like we can fight for the win here too. The team has done an amazing job, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got to secure another good result. The most important thing is to stay out of trouble, make the right decisions, and maximize every opportunity.
As Verstappen prepares for what promises to be a thrilling Las Vegas Grand Prix, his confidence and professionalism continue to shine through. With a new circuit to conquer and the world title already secured, there’s little doubt that the Dutchman will be a strong contender for victory tomorrow.
