Guaranteed transfer agreement signed by Chabot College and historically Black campus in Alabama……..

In an effort to increase educational possibilities, particularly for Black students, Chabot College in Hayward is collaborating with a historically Black college in Contra Costa

The community college Chabot and Miles College in Birmingham have finally reached an agreement that, according to a news release from Chabot administrators, “creates a guaranteed transfer pipeline from Chabot to Miles College and also includes a bridge scholarship.”

According to Chabot president Jamal Cooks, “Chabot couldn’t be more excited for this relationship with Miles College and for the strong ties it will develop between our institutions.” “We are reminded of the unique experience that historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) provide in fostering a supportive environment where Black students can succeed as Black History Month approaches.”

Cooks said that he intends to strengthen Chabot’s ties to other HBCUs, maybe concentrating on smaller institutions that “might otherwise be overlooked.”Kiley Russell focuses her writing on environmental and equity-related topics for Local News Matters.
