CBS Philadelphia, PA The Philadelphia Eagles have extra budget space to work with during NFL free agency, which begins on March 13, as a result of the NFL salary ceiling increase.

According to Over The Cap, the Eagles have $27.4 million in cap space right now. However, general manager Howie Roseman has a number of options for raising that amount for 2024.

Purchasing Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans prior to the NFL trade deadline seemed like a smart decision at the time. After struggling with injuries and youth at the position, the Eagles needed safety assistance, but the move didn’t go as expected.

Purchasing Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans prior to the NFL trade deadline seemed like a smart decision at the time. After struggling with injuries and youth at the position, the Eagles needed safety assistance, but the move didn’t go as expected.

In the 10 games he played with the Eagles, Byard—who will be 31 by the time the 2024 season begins—appeared to be a step slower as the team’s pass defense was exploited. In those ten games, he recorded 75 total tackles, three pass deflections, and one interception.

Although Byard was a young football player who grew up in West Philadelphia and looked up to Eagles great and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins, it’s improbable that he would play for his hometown team in 2024.
