Wide receiver George Pickens of the Pittsburgh Steelers has had a turbulent second season in the NFL. The University of Georgia recruit has been embroiled in a string of scandals in 2023, whether they are related to his behavior as seen on television or his antics on social media.
Head coach Mike Tomlin chastised the irate receiver for not being more focused on finding a solution. The top receiver for the Steelers in 2023 stated that he has concentrated his efforts on learning how to make more plays in film reviews.
In front of a pivotal game against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, Pickens addressed his frustrations and gave a brief update on his film study methodology to the media on Thursday. In response to a question regarding offensive line accountability, the second-year receiver focused on his own actions, according to a statement obtained by DK Pittsburgh Sports.
In Weeks 5 and 7 (Week 6 was a bye week), Pickens had back-to-back spectacular performances for the team against the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens. Diontae Johnson, a second-year receiver, was targeted ten times against the Ravens due to a hamstring injury he sustained early in the season.
Johnson caught six passes for 130 yards and a pivotal touchdown. He was targeted eight times and made five catches for 107 yards against Los Angeles. Pickens has been targeted more than five times since Week 7, but only twice.
