In the Tennessee recruiting scene, Jontae Gilbert is a well-known figure. Gilbert is a defensive back prospect from Atlanta, Georgia’s Douglass High School, class of 2025. He weighs about 185 pounds and is about 6 feet 1 inch. Gilbert decommitted from Ohio State after making a formal commitment, and Tennessee was interested in his recruitment. Gilbert, who according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings is ranked No. 28 in the country and the sixth cornerback, recently shared his recruitment updates with Volunteer Country.
“My hiring has been going well lately. Now that things are getting serious, the gifted defensive back says. “Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and Clemson have been pushing really hard,” he continues. I have been communicating with each of them and strengthening our bonds.” Gilbert says of South Carolina, “I feel a connection with them. They have a great opinion of me and are in constant contact with my head coach from high school, who attended South Carolina.
The excellent Atlanta recruit says of Clemson, to whom he is now being “Crystal Balled” by Steve Wiltfong (12/06/23) and Clemson insider Cory Fravel (12/06/23) of 247Sports, “Coach Goodwin, Conn, and Swinney love me.” They adore the fact that I can play every position in the backend, so that’s my game plan if I visit.”
The Georgia High School Database notes, “Coach Donte, who was at USC, has made it clear; I have been a must-get for him in this 2025 class,” in reference to Georgia. The veteran Volunteer target says of Tennessee, “Coach Banks and Coach Heupel treat me like a priority.” They believe that I can contribute significantly to their defence.” Gilbert has informed Volunteer Country that he does have visits planned. Throughout this recruiting cycle, the Volunteers will probably be in a scrap to sign the gifted cornerback. Every visit will matter since the folks at 247Sports appear to think Clemson is the front-runner. On January 20, Tennessee will have a significant opportunity to influence the long-term recruit.
Tennessee is one of the leading candidates to catch a highly-regarded Louisiana offensive-line target. Devin Harper, a four-star offensive lineman in the Class of 2025 from Shreveport, Louisiana’s Calvary Baptist Academy, revealed his top 10 college selections on social media on Friday afternoon. The Vols are among nine SEC clubs that are vying for Harper’s services.
Tennessee led a group of contenders that included Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Texas Tech in addition to the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Harper. Nearly thirty colleges have offered him scholarships, including all ten of his current top choices. He shared an image with the ten colleges’ logos on it.
