Five Notable Iprovements by Morgan Geekie of the Bruins

The Bruins are prepared to defeat the Minnesota Wild and end their three-game losing run.

With Matt Poitras participating in the World Juniors Championship, Morgan Geekie will be the center of attention. Geekie has scored two goals and provided three assists on 14 shots in his past six games. Geekie may be a major asset to the B’s third line because of his speed and physicality.

This week, the Boston Bruins have been in the news mostly because of Matt Poitras’ elevation to the second line, but Morgan Geekie has deftly slipped into the top six by tailoring his game to what the club needs to win.

Prior to training camp, Geekie—who signed with the Boston Bruins in July after spending two seasons with the Seattle Kraken—was supposed to be the team’s third line center. Even though he didn’t play that role on opening night, the 25-year-old has improved his right wing performance because to his chemistry with Poitras.

Geekie will start on the second line with Brad Marchand, Poitras, and the Bruins’ captain as they get ready to begin their West Coast road trip on Thursday at 10:30 p.m. against the San Jose Sharks.

“On Wednesday, I’m simply going to attempt to move outside and create room for him [Marchand],” Geekie said to Bruins writer Eric Russo. I’m just going to go out there and try to create space for both of those guys and try to make plays where I can because “Potsy” has kind of proved that he can make plays and contribute up and down the ice.
