Edge rusher T.J. Watt Strikes A New Contractual Deal With Cowboys With An Interesting Caveat Worth He struggled to get snaps in the regular season since he was positioned behind one of the top outside linebacker tandems in sports.

Bud Dupree, a former first-round choice, signed a contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, only days after ESPN’s Adam Schefter disclosed that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the former edge rusher were discussing a reunion. Long-term contracts are in place for T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, but the team has not yet re-signed veteran Markus Golden, who was the starting backup in 2023.

The 33-year-old is a free agent even after a strong season, despite playing in few snaps. He might not be the team’s third edge rusher candidate. Nick Herbig, a fourth-round selection, may already be on the team, though.

Herbig lit up the preseason just months after hearing his name called on draft weekend, amassing six pressures and four sacks in just sixty-three pass rush opportunities.

To put his efficiency in perspective, his thirty percent pass rush win-rate led all edge defenders in the preseason, even surpassing several top-50 selections in recent draft classes. Granted, not all of those snaps were against starting caliber blockers, but there was no doubt that he passed his first professional test with flying colors.
