Earns Michael Matthews Honours in Polynesian Bowl……..
Mike Matthews, a wide receiver at Arkview High School, has had a hectic few weeks. He completed an outstanding football season, signed a national letter of intent with the Tennessee Volunteers, did well at the Under Armour All-American Game, attended the Vols’ victory over Iowa in Miami, and now he has won the Polynesian Bowl Offensive MVP award. Matthews hauled in two catches for forty-four yards, including a touchdown that erupted on social media. Tennessee signee Nico Iamaleava, a 2023 quarterback, won Offensive MVP of the Polynesian Bowl for the second straight season. Iamaleava finished last year’s contest with 249 yards and a touchdown.
This season, Tennessee signed five players to the Polynesian Bowl: Matthews, four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren, five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross, four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger, and four-star inside linebacker Edwin Spillman. During their week in Honolulu, Hawaii, they played a lot of gridiron games and thrilled a lot of people about the 2024 signing class. With Matthews’s explosive potential at its centre, this class appears to be among Tennessee’s strongest in recent memory.
