Even though his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns wasn’t the best, rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson left a lasting impression. He managed to secure his first victory of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a game in which he led the Browns to victory with only two seconds remaining in the game by executing an almost flawless final-minute drive.
It was Thompson-Robinson’s second career start and unquestionably the finest of his brief career.
But things didn’t go as planned for him in his debut, and Thompson-Robinson recently talked about how he felt before the game.
In fairness, not many had high expectations for Thompson-Robinson going into his Baltimore Ravens debut.
Under the direction of MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, Baltimore was among the top football teams this season and advanced to the AFC Championship.
Given that veteran starter Deshaun Watson is in the lineup this year, it makes perfect sense that Thompson-Robinson wasn’t planning to play.
The Browns ultimately lost 28 to 3, with Thompson-Robinson finishing 19 of 36 for 121 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions.
As such, he would like to forget playing the game, but the child did learn a lot from it.
Thompson-Robinson went 1-2 as a starter at the end of his freshman season, throwing for 440 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions.
The fact that Thompson-Robinson had to play his first game against one of the top football teams probably contributed to his triumph over Pittsburgh, even though it wasn’t the performance he had in mind.
