As the season heats up, two Championship teams—Sunderland and Swansea City—have split from their managers.

The club has confirmed the successful purchase of the manager for a very large sum.

Although Leicester City is leading the table, there are competitions for every spot in the league below them. Sunderland is only outside the play-off spots, but they announced Tony Mowbray’s shocking resignation as manager on Monday night.

The Black Cats have lost their last four games, which has caused them to fall slightly behind in the play-off race. Despite ending a run of three straight losses with a 1-1 draw against Millwall over the weekend, they are now in ninth place in the standings, three points behind sixth-place Hull. Since the summer of 2022, Mowbray has held the position of authority.

Before this weekend’s match against West Brom, Mike Dodds is acting as interim manager at the Stadium of Light. The bookmaker currently has John Eustace, a former manager of Birmingham City, as the favorite for the position; Neil Warnock and Nathan Jones are also strong contenders.

On Monday, Sunderland was not the only team to make a managerial change. Michael Duff has left Swansea, who are in eighteenth place after winning five of their past nineteen games.

After Russell Martin left to join Southampton in the summer, they hired Duff, a former manager of Barnsley. But after announcing Duff’s departure, the Swans are now looking for a new manager.

Charlie Patino’s strike in the 94th minute salvaged a point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town, prompting the decision. Swansea had not won a game since the previous one.

Jones is the early favorite to accept the position. He was the manager of Southampton and Luton Town. Alan Sheehan, a former player for City, is in temporary leadership ahead of Swansea’s trip to Rotherham on Saturday.
