Despite their three Super Bowl appearances in the previous five years, a veteran NFL quarterback believes the Kansas City Chiefs will not defeat the Baltimore Ravens this time around.

On Sunday, Kansas City and Baltimore will square off in the AFC Championship. Even though the Ravens are inexperienced on this field, former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez stated he thinks they can defeat the Chiefs.

Sanchez did concede that it’s challenging to wager against a team captained by Mahomes. They know how to win the big games because they have won the Super Bowl twice in three attempts. Still, the former athlete who is now a commentator couldn’t help but be optimistic about the Ravens’ chances this season.

During an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, Sanchez stated, “You never want to bet against Mahomes, and I might regret it, but if I have to pick, I’m going San Fran. vs. Baltimore.”

Sanchez didn’t go into detail about why he chose the Ravens, but it’s easy to understand why he likes Baltimore. Lamar Jackson, after all, recently finished a season in 2023 that was MVP-caliber, and he has continued to play at that calibre in the postseason.

Furthermore, Mark Sanchez is not the only one who believes the Chiefs will fall short in the conference final. The odds and different data analyses also support this.

In fact, the Chiefs were only rated a 36.4 percent probability to win according to the ESPN Matchup Predictor. Therefore, Sanchez’s prognosis isn’t very audacious.

Still, it’s fascinating to hear from someone with so extensive knowledge about their forecasts. During his career, Sanchez was able to attend two AFC Championship games with the New York Jets, but he was unsuccessful both times. Having said that, his remarks are undoubtedly significant.
