It has been widely anticipated that Jay Harbaugh, the son of newly hired Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, will join his father’s coaching staff on the AFC West squad. A report suggests that may not be the case after all.

It was reported on Friday by Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports that Jay Harbaugh’s hire by the Chargers is not finalised. According to Zenitz, the Seattle Seahawks are considering employing him as well.

In 2021, when both were on the Wolverines’ staff, Harbaugh collaborated with Mike Macdonald, the new head coach of the Seahawks.

Since 2017, Jay Harbaugh has become Michigan’s special teams coordinator after working under his father’s direction for the previous nine years. When the older Harbaugh made the decision to leave Michigan and rejoin the NFL, the 34-year-old was anticipated to assume the same position with the Chargers.

In terms of appointing Macdonald’s new staff members, the Seahawks seem to be going all out. Though it might not seem like the biggest addition, persuading Harbaugh to leave his father and go with the Seahawks would be a declaration of purpose.

After Michigan won the national title on January 8, more than a dozen players announced their intent to enter the 2024 NFL draft in the space of two weeks.

The list was joined by another on Friday night. Security Quinten Johnson, who spent the previous two seasons as a rotational member of Michigan’s secondary, made the choice to enter the draft via social media as opposed to staying in Ann Arbour for a sixth season.

“I take with me the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the love and support of my incredible community as I take this next step in my journey as a national champion,”

“Having said that, I’m announcing my choice to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.”

Johnson, who was rated as a three-star recruit for the 2019 season, did not participate in his rookie campaign and spent most of his 2020 and 2021 season on special teams.

Over the last two seasons, the Maryland native’s role has grown; in 29 games, he has recorded 33 tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups. In the Wolverines’ 2023 regular-season finale, he will be most known for his hit on Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka, which forced an incompletion, and for robbing Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe of his pass in an overtime Rose Bowl victory that sent the team to the national title.
