On Monday night, the Michigan football team defeated Washington football to win the national championship, bringing an end to the collegiate football season. The Ohio State football team is now seeking walk-ons to join the team as the offseason approaches. Following a tweet from the Buckeyes regarding their impending walk-on tryouts for the football team, Michigan fans have started making fun of them. While a team would normally reveal such a thing, it might have made sense for Ohio State to hold off on making the announcement until a few weeks after their fiercest competitor wins the national championship.
In the national championship game on Monday night, the Michigan football team defeated Washington football to cap off a flawless season. The Wolverines prevailed 34–13, wrapping off the season 15-0 and atop the collegiate football standings. Now that the offseason has arrived, it will be interesting for Michigan. Who knows what Jim Harbaugh will still be the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines and what the team will get back next season?
There are rumours that Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh might leave for a head coaching position in the NFL almost every offseason. The rumours are already as strong as they’ve been this summer, and following a national title win, it appears that this may be the year the leave takes place. Will Johnson, a standout sophomore at Michigan, commented on the rumours as follows.
Will Johnson stated, “There’s a reason why (NFL teams are) so interested in him,” per a Blue By Ninety report. He’s an excellent coach. That is how he ought to be viewed. I’m not too concerned about it, though. I’m just trying to appreciate where we are at the moment and worry about anything like that when the time comes. I trust that whatever choice he takes is best for him and the squad.
Like Johnson, Blake Corum expressed his opinions about Harbaugh possibly leaving Michigan and acknowledged that his head coach is receiving a lot of attention.
“Coach Harbaugh is an incredible coach, as Will Johnson mentioned, and his record as a player and coach speaks for itself—he has won every place he has been,” Blake Corum remarked. “And even if it might have taken a few years, Coach is ultimately a successful coach. And everywhere he’s gone, he’s come out on top. Who wouldn’t, then? desire him? Coach Harbaugh has it better than anyone else. Nobody! We say to coaches, “Hey, Coach, you got to do what’s best for you,” when situations like that arise. However, we focus on the current task. Everyone wants a piece of you when you have such a wonderful coach. I’m just happy that Coach Harbaugh is at the University of Michigan.
