Jackson’s first two years in college have been ups and downs, for the most part. He has only racked up 34 total tackles and four pass breakups thus far. It’s remarkable that he hasn’t yet recovered an interception, since he amassed at least four throughout his time in high school.

Jackson is currently searching for a new college residence, and joining the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor seems like the ideal option.

If you are not familiar with high school recruitment, allow us to bring you up to date. Jackson was a highly anticipated 2022 prospect. According to 247Sports’ composite, he was a five-star talent ranked as the nation’s No. 2 cornerback and the No. 5 overall prospect. In an effort to convince Jackson to commit and sign, Michigan played a major role in his high school recruitment, setting up visit after visit, including an official visit in September 2021.

Steve Clinkscale, the coach of Michigan’s cornerbacks, was a major factor in Jackson’s initial interest in the university. The Jackson family has a strong tie because they are both from Youngstown, Ohio, which is also Clinkscale’s hometown.

“We both hail from Youngstown, Ohio, so there are a lot of commonalities,” Mr. Jackson said to Wolverines Wire during Domani’s formal visit. “The mindset is essentially the same. Work hard, have a “get after it” approach, and spend little time talking. In the end, it’s about working your tail off and earning everything you can. It’s not about grandeur or flair. That was helpful in building a solid rapport between us.

One would think that this relationship would be very helpful to Michigan in their possible re-recruitment of Jackson because Clinkscale is still the cornerbacks coach and co-defensive coordinator in Ann Arbor.

The recruitment efforts of Will Johnson, the third-ranked cornerback in the 2022 class, are another reason the Wolverines were given serious consideration. Jackson was one of Johnson’s top targets overall and a friend in the class. Johnson committed to Michigan relatively early in the cycle and went on to lead his class and assist in recruiting other prospects.
