Deshaun Watson Reveals Motives Behind His Request To Exit The Club

Ken Dorsey, the new offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, seems excited to work with quarterback Deshaun Watson ahead of what might be a season that changes everything for the team.

At his inaugural news conference on Monday, Dorsey stated, as reported by Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, “I’m extremely excited to work with this offence, especially Deshaun and him being one of the top quarterbacks in this league, the opportunity to really go out there this season and help him prove that he really is — a top quarterback in this league that can operate and help us win a bunch of football games.” “So, I’m super excited about that opportunity and really looking forward to this challenge.”

After Watson played in just six games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, the Browns fired offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, despite the fact that the team advanced to the playoffs. Only twelve regular-season games hath Watson participated in overall since he inked a fully guaranteed $230 million, five-year contract in March 2022.

If Cleveland doesn’t make it back to the postseason in January of next year, they may think about firing head coach Kevin Stefanski and/or Watson. For the time being, Dorsey is focused on making the most of the 28-year-old signal-caller, who hasn’t been selected to the Pro Bowl since the 2020 season.

The intriguing thing about Deshaun is that, based on what Kevin and the other guys have told me, he wants to be mentored. On Monday, Dorsey continued, “He wants to be driven and pushed. “And I think I’ll be able to pick up where the staff has left off on that.”
