Caleb Williams, the quarterback for USC and the likely first choice overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, has 47 days to choose between playing in the NFL and finishing off his degree.

Williams, who has been selected as the clear top choice in almost every mock draft conducted by prominent draft experts, recently admitted to the Los Angeles Times that he is still unsure about his plans for the upcoming season, referring to it as “a game-time decision.”

“I believe this has been one of the most significant years of my life,” Williams remarked. It’s challenging. I had to speak with Lincoln Riley because, well, I haven’t experienced it.just how to handle this and lead, how to remain the same person that I was either prior to the season or following either of our two losses.

As a starting quarterback, this is the first year that Williams has faced significant hardship. After replacing Spencer Rattler as head coach at Oklahoma, he went 6-2 in his rookie season. Last season, he guided USC to an 11-3 record, a Cotton Bowl appearance, and the Heisman Trophy.

However, Williams finished with 904 fewer passing yards and 12 fewer touchdowns than he did a season ago when he was hailed as a generational quarterback prospect. The Trojans went 7-5 this season and were eliminated from the College Football Playoff race.

Williams went on, “This was one of my most significant football playing years to date.” “This is the first time I’ve ever been 7-5 with no chance of making the playoffs at the end of the season. I’m addressing it on an emotional, spiritual, and bodily level.

Some media pundits and draft gurus don’t even think Williams is the greatest quarterback in the 2024 class because of his difficulties.

In an interview with GQ Sports in early September, Carl Williams, the father of the player, made hints that his son would decide not to enter the 2024 draft and instead go back to school if he wasn’t satisfied with the team that might pick him first overall.

Williams probably had a nasty taste in his mouth after losing five of his last six games as a starting college player. It wouldn’t be shocking if he desired an opportunity to make amends prior he cashed in on the 2025 draft.

However, it could be extremely challenging to decline the estimated $38.29 million contract and $24.8 million signing bonus that are expected to be awarded to the first pick in the 2024 draft.
