General manager of the Las Vegas Raiders Tom Telesco made it clear that Davante Adams is staying put despite the fact that he keeps coming up in trade rumours.
“He’s a Raider,” Telesco remarked about the standout wide receiver on Tuesday at the Indianapolis scouting combine, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
The former Green Bay Packer was acquired by the Raiders in 2022, but after two seasons without making the playoffs, there has been conjecture about his future in Las Vegas.
In an attempt to reunite Adams with former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Jets attempted to acquire him prior to the trade deadline. The Jets said they would try again this offseason, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, but the Raiders turned down their offer.
But Antonio Pierce was hired head coach by the Raiders, so that should offer the thirty-one-year-old hope. Following Josh McDaniels’ departure, Pierce led Las Vegas to a 5-4 record.
Luke Getsy was just brought on as their offensive coordinator. After working for seven seasons as an offensive assistant in Green Bay, he became the coach of Adams.
Adams described Getsy as having “open-mindedness and, like I said, that innovation to the offence and a good run-pass balance,” according to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. “And I’m accustomed to that West Coast vibe. Working on a new system that is also somewhat more recognisable will be enjoyable.
The Raiders still require a franchise quarterback. Jimmy Garoppolo is slated to be dismissed in March, while Aidan O’Connell had an underwhelming 40.5 QBR in 11 games during his rookie campaign.
Although it holds the 13th overall pick in the draft, Las Vegas need to strive to trade up and get a top prospect, like North Carolina’s Drake Maye or LSU’s Jayden Daniels. The Raiders may also choose to sign a Pro Bowler or other free agent.
