Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon has been providing fans with a glimpse into his offseason regimen by sharing training videos on social media on a regular basis.
It began in the end of October. Taillon recorded a video of himself standing in front of a wall holding a weighted ball and uploaded it to X, the website that was originally known as Twitter. Gradually, he moved his front foot forward and eventually picked it up to throw.
Identifying that backside tension and angle and raising into it/holding it throughout the delivery is part of his new favorite weighted ball drill, he wrote.
A few weeks later, he included an adaptation of that exercise into his routine for throwing a conventional baseball.
“Now is the time to start forming good habits, excited to get it rockin!” he added.
Last season, Taillon expressed his dissatisfaction with his early play in his Cubs debut. After agreeing to a four-year, $68 million contract about this time last year, he had anticipated that his debut to the team would not have been such a wild ride. But now that he’s on the other side, he’s driven to continue his performance from the second half into the Cubs’ second season.
The Cubs have not yet added to their rotation this winter, despite Marcus Stroman’s decision to forego the final year of his contract making it a higher priority. However, they can also anticipate greater consistency from Taillon, who will play a significant role in their plans for the upcoming seasons.
