According to the New York Post, the Chicago Cubs are one of several teams interested in former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Ryan Brasier.
The 36-year-old right-hander, who just finished an incredible season with the Dodgers, is in high demand from a half-dozen teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, and Texas Rangers. The Dodgers are still looking to re-sign him.
Brasier began the previous season with the Boston Red Sox; however, on May 15, the team designated him for assignment, and on May 21, he was released. On June 4, he was signed by the Dodgers.
In Los Angeles, something changed. In contrast, he had a 7.29 ERA in 20 games pitched by him for the Red Sox. He was 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA in 39 games with 10 holds and a save while pitching with the Dodgers. He gave up 10 walks, 38 strikeouts, and a.140 batting average to batters.
He returned to the Red Sox in 2018 following a brief spell with the Angels in 2013. He played with the Red Sox for the next five or so seasons, winning a World Series ring in the process.
He has a 9-8 record, a 3.88 ERA, 256 strikeouts, 79 walks, and an opponent batting average of.234 in 268 MLB games. In addition, he has 10 saves and 57 holds.
Between the Angels and the Red Sox he spent time in the Oakland Athletics system and he also signed overseas with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Nippon Professional Baseball for the 2017 season. With the Carp he had a 3.00 ERA in 26 relief appearances with 19 strikeouts and eight walks in 30 innings.
