Eddie Jackson, a safety, was named the 2023 Jeff Dickerson Good Guy Award recipient by the Chicago Bears on Thursday. The athlete who best assists the media in doing their duties each year receives the award, which bears the name of the late and adored ESPN reporter Jeff Dickerson. The Pro Football Writers of America chapter in Chicago chooses the award.
Cole Kmet (2022), Robert Quinn (2021), Mitchell Trubisky (2020), and Allen Robinson (2019) are among the previous champions. Josh McCown, a quarterback, was the first person to receive it in 2013.
Despite a season filled with highs and lows, Jackson’s first prise shows his constant availability to the media and ability to outperform reporters. Jackson defeated the runners-up, Cole Kmet, and jaylor johnson.
It’s another accomplishment for Eddie Jackson’s storied Bears career. Despite battling injuries and inconsistent play, the 2018 All-Pro has seen a minor career revival with Matt Eberflus and his defence. The former Alabama ballhawk, who went two seasons without an interception, has picked up five picks in his final two seasons with the squad.
Two years following the tragic death of Jeff Dickerson, the award was given out. On December 28, 2021, the former Bears beat writer lost his fight with cancer. His family was present to receive the prise.
