Andy Ibáñez Lands New Contract Deal Worth $766,100 With atlanta braves and he is expected to resume back immediately.
Given Keith’s history, the Tigers are undoubtedly not going to give up on him at age 22, but it might not hurt to give him a vacation from the everyday abuse he receives from MLB pitchers.
Long term, Keith will be OK, but he might benefit from a few weeks of minor-league pitching to get back on track.
Parker Meadows, Detroit’s second-worst hitter thus far, is comparable.
This season, Meadows is hitting.091, but 38.7% of his plate appearances result in strikeouts. He is sketching walks quickly, but the level of interaction is terrible.
Perez doesn’t seem to be the odd man out based on his recent performance. He batted second on April 23 and third in three of the four games that followed. He has been a mainstay at the center of the Tigers lineup.
Meadows seems safe enough, in my opinion. The Tigers would have to give up a lot of defense and possibly put Riley Greene at danger for injury if Perez started playing more corner outfield and moved Matt Vierling or Greene to center field more frequently.
