Cole Sullivan, a talented 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive athlete from Pittsburgh (PA), was one of Michigan’s top priorities going into the 2024 recruiting class. Head coach Jim Harbaugh personally recruited Sullivan, along with linebackers coach Chris Partridge and tight ends coach Grant Newsome.
Sullivan took his time and narrowed down his list of suitors to Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, Wisconsin, and Duke, but he ultimately chose the Wolverines in May. The Maize and Blue did experience a change in their coaching staff with Chris Partridge departing the program, but Sullivan has stayed steadfast since making his commitment.
“It was just the right amount of football, athletics, and program history,” Sullivan stated to 247Sports. “It really just stuck out to me because I knew that was where I wanted to spend the next chapter of my life after playing at the highest level in the Big Ten.”
Even though Sullivan may not have had the best offer list or the highest ranking in this class, after everything is said and done in Ann Arbor, he may wind up as one of the best players of this cycle. With his excellent size, speed, athleticism, and instincts, he can be a defensive lineman for many years and contribute right away to special teams in his rookie season. a flexible player on their defense who is excellent at multiple positions. Even though his ranking hasn’t increased over time, he will probably be remembered as one of the greatest steals in the nation, if not just in this class.
Michigan recruits more tight ends than anyone else and uses the position frequently. This cycle, the Wolverines possessed one of the top tight ends in the country in Rochester, Michigan, with Brady Prieskorn, a 2024 Adams four-star tight end. During his recruiting, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound player received 30 scholarship offers, one of which came from the Maize and Blue.
Coach Grant Newsome of the tight ends gave the local star top emphasis and developed a close relationship with him. Along with the Wolverines, the four-star recruit listed Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, Penn State, Miami (FL), Alabama, and Ole Miss in his top eight from March. But in the end, Michigan received his promise in April, and even though other colleges continued to show interest, he stayed reliable.
