Cause Of Death! Brighton GOAT Pascal Gross Sadly Passes Away @33 Having lost to Germany 5-1 on the first day of the tournament, Scotland needs to win at least a point against the Swiss on Wednesday night to maintain hopes of going to the knockout stages.
Switzerland started their Group A campaign with a resounding 3-1 victory over Hungary yesterday, and with three more points they can virtually guarantee a spot in the round of 16. Kris Boyd has urged Steve Clarke to make THREE changes against Switzerland – and bring Billy Gilmour back into the fold.
Boyd has pushed the national team manager to select Brighton playmaker Gilmour over Ryan Christie, but he doesn’t anticipate drastic changes from Clarke. The former striker Boydy believes James Forrest would be a better choice at right wing-back than Anthony Ralston, and he also anticipates Grant Hanley to take Ryan Porteous’ spot while he is sidelined.
“Where I can’t see much change is in the line-up, simply because Clarke doesn’t have that many options,” he said to the Scottish Sun. However, I would substitute three players: James Forrest for Anthony Ralston, Billy Gilmour for Ryan Christie, and Grant Hanley for the suspended Porteous.
“It is evident that our core defense has changed, but I also think we need to strengthen our right flank. With all due credit to Ralston, who has maintained his fitness despite seeing little action for Celtic, he would not be on this roster if Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey were available.
“We need to win this game, and Forest would give us a more aggressive option and bring us up the pitch. Regarding Gilmour, I wonder if Clarke feels bad now that he didn’t start him against Germany. The young midfielder from Brighton is very courageous when it comes to receiving and utilizing the ball under duress.
“Calum McGregor, who appeared to be utterly disoriented in midfield, might have benefited from Gilmour. Scott McTominay, who was playing in that deeper slot at a slower pace, is comparable. In the last third, Clarke undoubtedly thought Christie could provide more than Gilmour, but it was ineffective.
