There is definitely a big hole on the Washington Huskies coaching staff after Kalen DeBoer left to take a head coaching position at Alabama.

Ryan Grubb, the current offensive coordinator, jumps out as the best option to preserve continuity and improve on the program’s success as Athletic Director Troy Dannen starts the search for the next head coach.

Grubb may wind up following DeBoer for the same role this year after turning down the opportunity to be Alabama’s offensive coordinator the previous year.

Grubb has been an integral member of DeBoer’s coaching staff for the entirety of his head coaching career. He has a successful track record and a thorough understanding of the dynamics of the squad, which the Huskies need to offer him right now.

Grubb’s coaching prowess was demonstrated last year when he orchestrated the best passing offence in the country. His ability to create a successful offensive scheme and his strategic approach fit the Huskies’ football philosophy well, making him a strong contender for head coach. The closest thing to guaranteeing a smooth transition and maintaining the supportive environment DeBoer created in the Huskies’ locker room is Grubb.

Taking these things into consideration, it appears not only sensible but also necessary to give Ryan Grubb a call first. The Washington Huskies can continue to dominate college football and expand on their previous success by hiring Grubb as their head coach. His consistency in team dynamics and coaching philosophy makes him the perfect choice to usher in a new chapter of success for the Huskies.

After losing the National Championship Game less than a week ago, Kalen DeBoer is already moving again. The head coach of Washington is leaving for Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to accept an offer to succeed Nick Saban as the team’s apparent heir after no more than two years at any one FBS school.
