Tennessee is one of the leading candidates to catch a highly-regarded Louisiana offensive-line target. Devin Harper, a four-star offensive lineman in the Class of 2025 from Shreveport, Louisiana’s Calvary Baptist Academy, revealed his top 10 college selections on social media on Friday afternoon. The Vols are among nine SEC clubs that are vying for Harper’s services.
Tennessee led a group of contenders that included Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Texas Tech in addition to the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Harper. Nearly thirty colleges have offered him scholarships, including all ten of his current top choices. He shared an image with the ten colleges’ logos on it.
According to 247Sports, he is the No. 6 interior offensive lineman, No. 109 overall prospect, and No. 2 junior from Louisiana in the 2025 class. He’s also a four-star prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, where he’s ranked the No. 125 overall player and No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 3 junior from Louisiana.
On August 1, Harper accepted an offer from Tennessee. He disclosed his Tennessee offer in a post on his X account, tagging McKenzie Milton and Micah James, two offensive analysts for the Vols.
Scouting analyst Gabe Brooks of 247Sports stated in November that Harper was “pretty raw” but had “plenty of upside” as a prospect.
“Harper plays physical and sets the tone at the (line of scrimmage) for Shreveport (La.) Captain Shreve,” Brooks wrote at that time. “He is a block-finisher and down blocker by conviction. Harper demonstrates above-average foot quickness and the necessary lateral mobility, but his hand placement and body control are still developing. Although hands don’t always land on target, they do so when they do.
“The motor doesn’t seem to be in doubt, and overall movement ability is above average. Some schools may view Harper as a future combo offensive lineman based on his long-term projection. He’s really raw, but I think he has a lot of potential, so I really like him.”
Harper acknowledged to 247Sports’ Bryce Koon that he still needed to work on at least one significant area of his game after attending an LSU camp in June.
“The motor appears to be unquestionable, and overall mobility is superior to average. Given his long-term projection, some colleges might see Harper as a future combo offensive lineman. I really like him even though he’s really raw and I think he has a lot of promise.”
After attending an LSU camp in June, Harper told 247Sports’ Bryce Koon that he still needed to improve in at least one key element of his game.
Five commitments for the 2025 class have already been made to Tennessee, the best of which is four-star tight end Jack VanDorselaer, a Top247 recruit from Southlake, Texas. There are currently no expected offensive linemen in the Vols’ 2025 class.
