Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, is one of the most sought-after possibilities for head coach this summer.
The Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons, two teams who are probably considering him highly for head coach, have already conducted interviews with him.
Following a rumoured falling out with the San Francisco 49ers management, Harbaugh departed the NFL coaching ranks in 2014, and he has been a cautious candidate ever since.
But after Harbaugh guided the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff title over Washington this season, he achieved his zenith at Michigan.
In addition, Harbaugh may wish to make his spectacular comeback to the NFL in pursuit of the Lombardi Trophy, which eluded him during his previous stint as an NFL head coach over ten years ago, now that he has multiple high-profile positions on the table.
His turnaround of the 49ers in just two seasons in San Francisco is proof positive that his coaching philosophy is effective there, but it may not sit well with other owners or general managers.
The Ole Miss football team and head coach Lane Kiffin are still in charge of the collegiate transfer portal. Kiffin, who recently committed from the Michigan Wolverines, has discovered the key to luring transfers to Oxford. Amorion Walker, a phenomenal athlete with collegiate experience, has joined the Rebels. Walker still has two years left to be eligible (source: Bruce Feldman of The Athletic).
Walker is a cornerback with a 6’3″ and 180-pound physique. Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reports that he possesses the physical attributes necessary to be a top secondary player, including a 42-inch vertical and 4.34 speed. He’s an incredible athlete who can excel if given the appropriate plan. Walker was a three-star recruit out of high school who chose the Wolverines over LSU, Notre Dame, and Mississippi State.
Walker participated in 66 defensive snaps during the Wolervines’ 2023 championship run, earning three tackles and one pass breakup. With the Rebels, it appears he will be able to see the field, something he was unable to do in Ann Arbour. Ole Miss football has a dearth of cornerbacks entering the 2024 campaign, thus Walker might see action early on and possibly be considered a starter for Kiffin.
