Michigan had prioritised Pittsburgh (PA.) Catholic Central 2024 defensive athlete Cole Sullivan. Along with linebackers coach Chris Partridge and tight ends coach Grant Newsome, head coach Jim Harbaugh personally recruited the athletic 6-foot-3, 200-pounder. Sullivan took his time during the recruiting process, narrowing his options to Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, Wisconsin, and Duke, but he ultimately chose the Wolverines in May. The Maize and Blue’s coaching team was shaken up with the departure of Chris Partridge, but Sullivan has remained committed to the programme and has never wavered.
On Fridays, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Sullivan plays linebacker, defensive end, and tight end to help his team get to the WPIAL Championship. He had 117 tackles in 12 games as a junior, and when you watch the tape, you see an instinctive space eater who can wallop and, more importantly, reverse direction, erupt, and then tackle. He’s a rangy, flexible back seven prospect who could play a variety of positions at the next level.
What makes Michigan so special?
“It was just that balance of athletics and football and the history in the programme,” Sullivan explained to 247Sports. “It really just stood out to me because I wanted to play in the Big Ten at the highest level and when I was there I could tell that’s where I wanted to spend the next chapter of my life.
