Budda Baker has been listed as questionable by the Arizona Cardinals due to illness, according to a late addition to the injury report. The Cardinals will play the San Francisco 49ers at State Farm Stadium later today.
It’s unclear what’s wrong with Baker. This story will be updated when new information becomes available .Baker has appeared in eight games in 2023 and was placed on injured reserve in mid-September after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Cardinals are 3-10 this season and have been plagued by injuries on both sides of the ball. Baker has 58 tackles on the season.
It’s obviously bad news for an Arizona team attempting to upset the 49ers, who have won five straight games. They’ve already clinched a postseason spot and can win the NFC West today if they beat Arizona.
“At the start of the year, I thought they were really tough. To beat them, I thought we had to play immaculate offence, but it was a close game. Since then, they’ve had however many games it is, nine more games of reps. They’re working hard and playing well together. “They’ve added some really good players, particularly [Arizona Cardinals S] Budda [Baker], who they didn’t have,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier this week.
George Kittle went on to say:
“They have a new coaching staff, but if you watch the tape right now, they are flying around and playing the defence that their coach wants them to play at a really high level.” It’s unlike nearly any other defence in the league in terms of how they do all of their coverages and how they use Budda Baker. And then you throw someone like Budda into their defence, and they’re all on it, and they play really, really good defence.”
Krys Barnes (ribs), Marquise Brown (heel), Blake Gillikin (back), Geoff Swaim (back), Elijah Wilkinson (neck), and Michael Wilson (neck) are also classified as questionable.
Official inactives must be submitted 90 minutes prior to kickoff, which is scheduled for 2:05 PM Arizona time.
