The key roles among the coaching staff of the Bears have been determined. On Wednesday, an insider informed NBC Sports Chicago that Chad Morton had been appointed by the organisation as their new running backs coach. After the team fired Luke Getsy and all of his position coaches earlier this month, that was the last position coach post that needed to be filled.
It is noteworthy that the Bears retained a few of their previous season’s coaches. After the team made significant progress in 2023, all of the defensive position coaches were still in place. In addition, Matt Eberflus stated that tight ends coach Jim Dray and offensive line coach Chris Morgan will remain in 2024 as a result of their efforts to foster the growth of young players such as Cole Kmet, Teven Jenkins, Braxton Jones, and Darnell Wright.

Waldron was the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks for the previous three seasons. In Seattle, he also called plays. Throughout his 19-year career as a football coach, Waldron worked most of his time under Rams coach Sean McVay. McVay’s system is a derivative of Kyle Shanahan, much like Luke Getsy, who joined the Packers from Matt LaFeur’s scheme. Waldron has experience working with a wide range of quarterbacks, such as Jared Goff, Russell Wilson, and Geno Smith.
Washington has been with the Bears for two seasons now. 2008 saw him join the squad as a defensive assistant, and in 2010 he was elevated to the position of defensive line coach. He is a DC for the second time. In 2018 and 2019, Washington oversaw the Panthers defence, and his team’s 53 sacks in 2019 placed them second in the NFL. He worked as a defensive line coach with the Bills for the previous four seasons until being elevated to assistant head coach in 2023.
Joseph went from Seattle to Chicago with Waldron. Similar to Waldron, he was commended for turning NFL pass-hauler Geno Smith into a reliable starter. Joseph coached in the NFL for four of his eight years of coaching expertise.
Since their time at Maryland, Beatty and DJ Moore have already cultivated a relationship. That is significant. Jordan Matthews, Tavon Austin, Jordan Addison, Mike Williams, and Keenan Allen are just a few of the well-known players he has coached. Beatty has been a coach for 26 years, with three of those years spent in the NFL.
A different coach that travelled with Waldron from Seattle to Chicago. In 2009, Morton joined the Packers as a head coach, mostly serving as an assistant on special teams. He worked his way up from special teams assistant to running backs coach and eventually added run game coordinator to his duties during his ten years with the Seahawks.
In 2020, Brown and Waldron came into contact with the Rams. That year, Brown oversaw the running backs for the squad, and Waldron oversaw the passing game. He served as the offensive coordinator for the Panthers in 2023, but the team had trouble. They had the lowest total offence and passing yard totals of any team in the NFL. With points scored, they came in second to last. Nonetheless, Brown was a well-liked applicant throughout the previous two recruiting cycles and was invited to interview for positions as head coach and offensive coordinator.
