One of the players who was injured is Anthony Walker Jr., who will be available as a free agency. if he intends to play a fourth season in Cleveland.
Walker’s 2023 season was shortened for the second time in a row. He participated in 12 games this past season and three in 2022.
Walker played with the Browns for one season in 2023 after signing a two-year contract in the previous year. Walker recorded 44 tackles and one forced fumble in the 12 games. When Sione Takitaki took over following his knee injury, the Browns did not lose a stride despite his play taking a tiny step back.
“His play and leadership will inspire a team, maybe the Browns again, to award him another one-year deal with a little more meat on the bone after he shows his quadricep tear is behind him once he clears a physical for his arthroscopic knee surgery.” – Sports A to Z.
Will Walker be let go by the Browns?
My instinct tells me they won’t. The younger player, who has just been better lately, should be brought back by the Browns as Takitaki is ready to become a free agency.
It seems more practical to add linebackers through the draft and veterans through free agency. More significantly, LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is the Browns’ best linebacker. Simply surround the individual with reliable players. Walker could only return to the Browns on a minimal salary if a starting position isn’t guaranteed.
