This offseason, there have already been a lot of league-changing transactions at wide receiver, and there might be at least one more. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, talks between Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders about a contract extension “could get explosive.” The Ohio State product, who has been “the leader and alpha” for Washington’s offence, is eligible for free agency following the 2022 campaign. “The fact that we haven’t heard a peep about them getting anywhere near a trade should scare Commanders fans, given how much the WR market has shifted this offseason and how much turmoil we have already seen at that position,” La Canfora said while pointing out that a trade remains likely.
The following trades have occurred this offseason: the Los Angeles Raiders acquired Davante Adams; the Miami Dolphins acquired Tyreek Hill; the Cleveland Browns acquired Amari Cooper; the Philadelphia Eagles acquired A.J. Brown; the Arizona Cardinals acquired Marquise Brown; the Los Angeles Rams acquired Allen Robinson; and the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired Christian Kirk. Odell Beckham Jr. and Julio Jones are each still free agents, and there were six wide receivers picked in the first round. This has been the pass-catcher offseason, and Washington selected Penn State’s Jahan Dotson in the first round out of those six picks.
