The Denver Broncos, along with quarterback Russell Wilson, are poised to approach a crossroads in their journey towards a postseason berth. Following their acquisition of Wilson from Seattle in one of the largest blockbuster trades in NFL history, the Broncos inked Wilson to a hefty five-year, $245 million contract extension that runs through the 2028 season. Not only does that contract not start until 2024. Russell Wilson’s contract has many moving components going forward, but the real “fork in the road” will come on the fifth day of the 2024 league year, right after free agency opens, when Wilson’s contract triggers $37 million of his 2025 payout.
