The Las Vegas Raiders seem to be thinking about pursuing Jim Harbaugh of Michigan for their head coaching position.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated stated, “The one thing I’d heard a little earlier in the fall was that Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds had made an impression on owner Mark Davis.” “To be fair, Dodds and Harbaugh had a working relationship in Oakland when Dodds was a young scout and Harbaugh was just starting out as a coach. Naturally, Davis made an attempt to sign Harbaugh after he left the Niners to play for his alma mater in 2015.

Recently, Davis stated to Tashan Reed of The Athletic that he is “wide open” to hiring a general manager and head coach. He did, however, say that he will most likely hire a general manager before an HC. It wouldn’t be shocking if they pursued Harbaugh if he hired Dodds.

In October, Davis dismissed Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler, appointing Champ Kelly as interim general manager and Antonio Pierce as interim head coach. The Raiders (5-8) have a 2-3 record under Pierce. It makes sense to go after a coach with a track record of success because it’s uncertain if he has what it takes to succeed in the NFL.

In 2011–14, Harbaugh was the 49ers head coach. In addition to winning 2011 Coach of the Year, he led them to a Super Bowl XLVII appearance with a 44-19-1 record. In his nine seasons at Michigan, he has contributed to the Wolverines’ three consecutive College Football Playoff berths.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman recently stated, “I think he’s definitely going to the NFL” if Michigan wins the national championship this season on the “Rich Eisen Show.”
