Semaj Morgan, a Michigan football rookie this fall, has been impressive in his limited playing experience. Morgan has gotten plenty of chances with the football in his hands since making a contested grab for a touchdown against Rutgers, and he has surely made them count. He was selected Michigan’s Rookie of the Year yesterday as a result of his achievements.

The University of Michigan football team hosted its annual team awards presentation last night in Ann Arbour after going 13-0 and winning the Big Ten for the second consecutive season. As the Rose Bowl approaches, it’s evident that this year’s Wolverines are unique: JJ McCarthy and other team leaders are older and have grown both emotionally and physically.

However, younger players are making an impression, such as Michigan football rookie wide receiver Semaj Morgan, who was named the Wolverines’ 2023 Rookie of the Year. Despite being a three-star recruit out of high school, Morgan has been given the ball numerous times this season, resulting in some great plays. In fact, against Iowa, Michigan allowed Morgan to return a punt for the first time, which resulted in a tremendous run that nearly resulted in a touchdown — Blake Corum came in a few plays later.

Semaj Morgan appeared in all 13 games for the 2023 season, catching 17 passes for over 180 yards and two scores. He’s also rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns, has 159 kick return yards, and has an 87-yard punt return.
