ESPN: Why Raidders haven’t been paying players on christmas days since 2017

The Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions and the Raiders’ fiercest rivals, will take on the team on Christmas Day, a day they haven’t played on in six years.

The Silver and Black traveled to Lincoln Financial Field around Christmas 2017 to play the Philadelphia Eagles, who, coincidentally, went on to win Super Bowl LII. The Raiders’ record before the game was exactly the same as it is now—6-8. However, the Silver and Black were coming off consecutive losses when they entered the contest in 2017.

For the majority of the fourth quarter, the score remained tied until the Eagles, with 22 seconds left, made a 48-yard field goal to take the lead. The Raiders made a last-ditch effort to win the game, but they stumbled in their attempt to keep the play going, which gave Philadelphia the opportunity to seize the opportunity and win the game 19–10. Carr only managed 140 passing yards, two interceptions, and a touchdown in the game’s conclusion.

Marshawn Lynch and Jalen Richard, two former Raiders running backs, finished with respective yards of 95 and 42. With six combined tackles, three passes defensed, and one interception, former Raiders safety topped the defense.

The game would end with a 7–7 deadlock before the two sides exchanged field goals in the third quarter, tying the score once more heading into the fourth.
