Detroit Tigers prospect Jackson Jobe to miss 3-6 months with injury

Jackson Jobe, a right-hand pitcher, has been placed on the 7-day disabled list by the Detroit Tigers’ Double-A Affiliate, the Erie SeaWolves, due to a left hamstring strain, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Against the Bowie Baysox on Wednesday, Jobe last took the mound. Before he felt the hamstring strain and had to leave the game, he had thrown 3.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Through five starts with Erie this season, the 21-year-old righty is 0-1 with a 2.16 ERA, 1.020 WHIP, and 13.0 strikeouts per nine innings.

With the third overall choice in the 2021 MLB Draft, Jobe was chosen by the Tigers. Jobe is 6-10 with a 3.25 ERA, 1.133 WHIP, and 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings in his minor league career.

Jobe was Detroit’s top pitcher prospect going into 2024 and ranked third overall in the farm system. During his 1.0 scoreless inning of action, he recorded a save by striking out three batters when he joined the Tigers for major league Spring Training.

Jobe is currently projected by MLB Pipeline to make it to the major leagues by 2025, and this most recent injury doesn’t appear serious enough to even slightly impede that timeframe. Jobe may miss the next few weeks depending on the severity of his hamstring strain, but it doesn’t seem to be anything serious.
