Pat Murphy did not think he would ever manage again. Certainly not what he had anticipated happening in Milwaukee. But on Thursday, at the team’s first press conference, he was sporting a Brewers jersey—his first managerial opportunity since 2015. The day before, the Brewers declared that Murphy had inked a three-year deal and that former second baseman Rickie Weeks had been elevated to assistant manager. “You realise how fortunate you are to be a part of something,” Murphy said. “It’s amazing what we have growing here.” It’s not at the location I had anticipated. After these things happen, this is where I end up. Murphy has thirty years of experience managing teams. He will turn sixty-five on November 28.
