Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks fell to 6-7 on the season after giving it their all in a 28-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
The 49ers offense is known for its explosive plays, but the Seahawks allowed a lot of big gains that either turned the field in favor of San Francisco or resulted in touchdowns.
Carroll felt that the 49ers made simply too many big plays, but the Seahawks weren’t caught off guard. Carroll stated that San Francisco 4.
“We arrived here prepared to play these guys, and we simply were outplayed too frequently by their guys on offense to win the game,” Carroll remarked. “They performed the things they do in a number of exciting plays. It’s just things they did; nothing new. They performed incredibly well. When the guys were open down the field, they made some excellent throws. [QB Brock of the 49ers] Purdy handled that quite well. We have to give these guys a great deal of credit because there were just too many spectacular plays to contain them.
The explosive plays that San Francisco employs make them extremely dangerous; the Seahawks allowed nine plays to gain 20 yards or more.
The fact that the 49ers’ actions were nothing new to the Seahawks coaching staff may irritate Carroll the most. What they knew the 49ers could and would do beat them.
