Sad News: Steelers management fired two key players

After two straight home losses to the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a difficult quarterback situation. Many fans have entertained nostalgic and exuberant thoughts of Ben Roethlisberger returning to the Steelers after retirement. The possibility of this scenario coming to pass is still very slim.

While the Steelers have been dealing with their quarterback situation, 38-year-old Joe Flacco—who is currently with the Cleveland Browns—performed admirably in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After Flacco passed for 311 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, there were rumors that Roethlisberger might play again.

The legendary player for the Pittsburgh Steelers joked around when discussing the idea of coming out of retirement and joining the team on Monday during an episode of his podcast Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger. “I’m good,” Roethlisberger joked in response to a question concerning the likelihood of a comeback. He continued with an answer that was clearer.

Roethlisberger, at 41, is facing serious physical obstacles that would make a comeback to NFL action extremely unlikely. Although Steelers supporters would definitely embrace Roethlisberger’s return, the truth is that he is not in the physical shape required to guide an NFL team to victory.
