Through its annual awards programme, the Atlanta Braves Foundation recently gave $360,000 to 37 local nonprofit organisations. The Atlanta Braves Foundation Golf Tournament, the Annual Leadoff Luncheon, the Legacy Brick Paver programme, the annual Foundation Weekend memorabilia sale, online auctions, in-game and special event silent auctions, the 50/50 Raffle, and the Braves Licence Tag initiative are just a few of the events and initiatives that the Foundation raises money for throughout the year. The collected money is dispersed back into the community to assist nearby nonprofits.
Representatives from each organisation attended a reception at Turner Field to celebrate the 2016 grant recipients, and they were recognised during a pre-game ceremony during the championship series. Vice Chairman John Schuerholz, President of Development Mike Plant, Director of the Atlanta Braves Foundation Ericka Newsome-Hill, and Community Affairs Manager Janet Sevilla accompanied the recipients on the field.
The Braves Foundation was established in 1994 and has given community organisations $6.5 million in cash and in-kind support. With the kind assistance of Braves employees and players, sponsors, and supporters, the Atlanta Braves Foundation works tirelessly to raise the standard of living for our children.
