Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the Philadelphia Eagles asked to interview Kellen Moore for the open offensive coordinator post. Later, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Moore will have an interview with the Eagles on Thursday.
Before making the switch from quarterback to quarterbacks coach in 2018, Moore spent six years as an NFL player with the Lions and Cowboys. At thirty years old, he received a promotion to offensive coordinator in 2019. His CV
McCarthy remarked, “I’ve been where Kellen has been.” Ellen desires to turn on the scoreboard. But so that I can rest my defence, I want to run the dang ball. Consider that as a coordinator, you are in command of the offence. As a play-caller and head coach, you have a little more awareness.
“I don’t want to lead the league in offensive efficiency. With the most wins and the league title, I aim to be the best team in the league. And we’ll do that if it means sacrificing some production and improving ball handling in order to do that.
McCarthy remarked, “Calling [pass-heavy] plays is a lot of fun, but it’s not the best thing for your team.” “Time of possession decreases, and turnover risk increases.
Thus, we must implement ball security. We have to improve its security. We must possess the skill to be a top-five team.
In 2022, the Cowboys were seventh in the NFL in terms of run intensity, but whatever. Moore signed a deal to become the offensive coordinator for the Chargers the day after leaving the Cowboys.
Examining the offensive stats of the Cowboys and Chargers with Moore as their offensive coordinator:
As you can see, throughout Moore’s four years as the offensive coordinator, the Cowboys twice led the NFL in yards gained. The Chargers’ defence was among the worst in the league during his one season there, and head coach Brandon Staley was sacked midway through the season. While the Chargers’ offensive statistics for the whole season were unimpressive, it’s important to remember that Easton Stick, the backup quarterback, started the final four games (all defeats) when starter quarterback Justin Herbert was injured at the end of the regular season.
Although Jim Harbaugh was appointed head coach of the Chargers on Wednesday, Moore is still officially the offensive coordinator for the team. As a result, Moore may soon be seeking for a new position.

“This new person coming in is meant to take away the staleness,” Nick Sirianni stated in reference to the hunt for a new offensive coordinator during his news conference this week.
“We’re bringing in a guy to do the things that he’s done in the past, and to bring in new ideas,” Sirianni remarked. “We’re conducting a thorough search to find the ideal candidate. However, it would be absurd to leave out some of the previous work that we have done in this area. We’re not there yet, so I’m not sure if it will be 95 percent of this and 95 percent of that.
“Our goal is to appoint the most qualified candidate for the position—someone with a clear play calling scheme, the ability to mentor the quarterback in the same way, and vision. I’m employing him to do a job and to be in charge of the offence; we’ll decide where that goes after we find the appropriate individual.
We’ll have to wait and watch who the Eagles finally assign to lead their offence back to life.
