Excellent graduate transfer linebacker who is expected to have a significant impact on the Vols in 2023… after arriving in January 2023, demonstrated his leadership and intuition during spring practice. played for BYU from 2019 to 22, leading the team on defense and serving as captain. one of the best prep athletes in Utah when he first signed with the Cougars in the Class of 2016… 26 of the 37 games in his career were starts. Collected 194 total tackles (97 solo), 11 for loss, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 4 pass breakups. graduated from BYU in December 2022, and he has chosen to use his COVID exemption period.
a team captain who, with 62 stops (29 solo), four tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, concluded the season as the Cougars’ second-leading tackler… played middle linebacker and started all 12 of his games. did not participate in the SMU vs. New Mexico Bowl game. At Liberty (10/22), recorded a season-high eight tackles, five of which were solo. Presented a tackle for loss in the games against Utah Tech (11/19) and Boise State (11/5). Good performance against Baylor, recording six tackles, 1.5 of which were for loss.
Before sustaining a season-ending ACL injury during the Cougars’ 27-17 victory over Arizona State on September 18, the team captain participated in and started the first three games of the year. totaled 31 tackles, including 14 solo stops, 3.5 sacks, and 3.5 for loss. tallied a career-high 17 tackles (10 solo, 7 assist), including a tackle-for-loss in Allegiant Stadium’s 24-16 season-opening victory over Arizona (9/4).
2020 saw him earn a spot on the second team of the All-Independent team and lead the BYU defense in an 11-win campaign that ended with a defensive MVP award in the Boca Raton Bowl. played ten games, eight of which he started at middle linebacker. Finished with 72 tackles, including 35 solo ones, to rank second on the team. recorded nine tackles in a Boca Raton Bowl victory over Josh Heupel’s UCF team (12/20)… Additionally, each of the four games against Troy (9/26), Boise State (11/6), Coastal Carolina (12/5) and San Diego State (12/12) saw nine tackles.
A three-star talent for the class of 2016 out of Provo’s Timpview High School ranked as the top outside linebacker in the state and the fifth best player overall in Utah by Rivals designated as a 2015 Salt Lake Tribune Coaches’ All-State Class 4A Second Team member and a Semper Fi All-American played a defensive position in high school. helped Timpview achieve a 6-0 regional record and an overall record of 11-2 to qualify for the UHSAA 4A State Football Championship game. made 70 total tackles as a senior, including 51 solo stops, one sack, three recovered fumbles, and one blocked field goal. led by Cary Whittingham as coach.
