Bears Examine Another Tree from Sean McVay……..
The coordinator at Kentucky under Will Levis and former coordinator and assistant with the Rams, Liam Coen, is reportedly being considered for the offensive coordinator position with the Bears.
CBS Sports reports that the Bears have a third contender for offensive coordinator.
According to a report by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Liam Coen, the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for Kentucky, will interview for the position left empty by Luke Getsy’s firing.
Similar toKentucky another possibility for offensive coordinator, Coen has previous ties to Rams coach Sean McVay.
When the Rams collapsed in 2022, Coen was their offensive coordinator. After serving as Will Levis’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kentucky for a year, he did it for a single season. Under Coen, Levis set a career best for completion % and touchdown passes while at Kentucky.
Before attending Kentucky, Coen worked for the Rams as a receivers coach.
Under Coen’s leadership as offensive coordinator in 2022, the Rams finished last in terms of offence and 27th in terms of passing and rushing. After a season in which McVay was unsure if he would return, he left and advised assistants to seek employment elsewhere. That was also the year that injuries limited Matthew Stafford to just nine games played, forcing the Rams to start four different quarterbacks.
During the previous season, his offence at Kentucky ranked 98th in the NCAA in scoring and 83rd in passing.
It wouldn’t be shocking at all if the Bears gave Coen a look at quarterback coach. They also have that opening after Andrew Janocko was sacked.
49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak has been mentioned as another Bears offensive coordinator candidate.
