Jaylen Wright, a running back for the Tennessee Volunteers, announced his NFL Draft candidature prior to the Cheez-It Citrous Bowl. He made the decision to concentrate on getting ready for the draft rather than play in the bowl game. Wright formally accepted an invitation on Wednesday to participate in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, where he will get the opportunity to work in front of NFL scouts.
Wright was the first 1,000-yard rusher at Tennessee since Jalen Hurd in 2015, which made him a valuable asset to this Volunteer backfield. Despite sharing several carries with Dylan Sampson and Jabari Small, Wright managed a 1013-yard season. This season, he has gained the most yards in a game at home versus Texas A&M, where the Volunteers prevailed.
With 19 carries for 136 yards and an average of 7.2 yards per run, he concluded that game with 136 yards. Against UConn, he recorded his longest run of the season, including an 82-yard score on the first play. He averaged a quick 14.1 yards per run in the UConn game, which was also his most productive yards per carry game. The junior back scored in the games against South Carolina, Kentucky, UConn, and Georgia, although he did not have a multiple touchdown performance.
Turnage played for Lafayette High School in Oxford, Mississippi, during his prep years. He initially signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide before switching to Tennessee for the 2021 year. With the Vols, he has totalled 48 tackles and one interception during his collegiate career.
On3 reported Tuesday night that former Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire paid them a visit. The former four-star prospect was brought in by Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding while he was under Nick Saban’s coaching staff from 2018 to 2022.
In the 2021 cycle, Blackshire was ranked as the No. 24 linebacker and the No. 32 recruit in Texas. According to On3’s rankings, the product of Duncanville, Texas, is now ranked as the No. 34 linebacker in the country. Blackshire has amassed 25 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in his three seasons with the Tide.
